I don't think Vegeta's dad's hair was actually red. I mean , the only place I saw Vegeta's dad was in a memory where everything was sort of reddish.

Not only does King Vegeta not have black hair, but Broly, the Legendary Super Sayan, when he's not in SS form doesn't have black hair. It's Green!
