Nintendo Power (magazine) - An X-Wing Firing with Its S-Foils Closed
Look on the cover, near the upper-right corner. You can clearly an X-Wing firing, but it's S-FOILS ARE CLOSED!!! Unless it has fast-closing S-foils or it was blaster fire from another X-Wing, this is pretty much impossible.
Actually it is possible to fire with closed S-Foils. If you have read the Star Wars novels you will find that Corran Horn does it in a mission. I can't remember the book, but it is part of the X-Wing series, perhaps "Rogue Squadron". I do know it was in a simulator.
