This happens when Sandy meets Flipper at the docks as he is waiting for the 5:00 ferry home. While Sandy is playing the Gameboy, he hears Flipper. He stands up and leaves the Gameboy on the bench. When Sandy reaches the edge of the dock, the game magically appeared back in his hands. Then when Flipper throws a soda can back at Sandy, the game is gone. Then in the next shot, the game is back.
