Pleasantville - The Basketball Team Is from Where?
During the Pleasantville basketball game:
If "outside of Pleasantville" doesn't exist, who does the basketball team play? Although the IMDb treats this as "incorrectly regarded" because it is 'consistent' with it being a TV show, this is still a large mistake. Other shows are certainly mindful of the world around them; Pleasantville should be no different. After all, they know they're a part of the United States, so they would know about Washington DC. This really doesn't wash.

True. True. I noticed that too. I mean, they didn't know what was outside of Pleasantville, and I would say that there was another school, but then how would they win every game? If they live in Pleasantville, then they would tie because it wouldn't be fair for one to lose and one to live in Pleasantville.

I agree with the slip-up, but did we actually ever SEE them play a game? It's a TV sitcom-world, so who really knows.

That is not a slipup. Tobey and Reese's characters were trying to understand why these people were so clueless to the outside world when there were so many inconsistences in their world. For instance, why wouldn't a firefighter fight fires? Why could they never experience and not know what rain looks like, but they know about it? Why would their be "families" if they don't know or speak about sex. They are many questions to this movie, but that is the point. This movie is a satire based on the tv shows from the 50s. Many of these tv shows were also known for being able to solve any problem in 30 minutes or less. It is not realistic. This movie accurately displays this.
