In the scene where the kid finds the key and unlocks the bike, he swiftly puts a helmet on, starts the bike and accelrates. The helmet is then still loose on his head. When the camera switches the helmet's straps are tightly stuck to his head. There is no way he could have steered the bike and still put his helmet on at the same time (considering the age and size of the kid versus the bike's power)
